Your comments were most interesting!
I believe that the triangle mark on matrices indicate they were made by Linotype.
As far as differences between American and English machines are concerned and Linotype and Intertype brands - the museum I am involved with has all of these varieties of machines and all matrices appear to be completely inter-
changeable: EXCEPT, of course, the ENGLISH-DEPTH matrices which were very popular for jobbing work, having a lower body. Our machines are all American-depth. To change from English to American-depth is quite an undertaking: moulds, mould-wheel have to be replaced.
I worked at the "N.Z. Herald" in 1955 when the whole battery of 50-plus machines was changed over from English to American-depth matrices. The year before, all the machines were changed from gas to electric pots and from a
common shaft driving all the machines back to back to individual electric motors! All achieved while producing the daily paper!
Best wishes,
