I remember also seeing those machines going away as you say what a forlorn sight it was also the remains of the foundry ( my area ) where those woods platecasting machines once held pride of place.
I also started as a grasshand and worked all the London papers and a few locals as well. What a way to earn a living and what a living !!!. All sadly in the past now but the memories live on.
