In 1955 I ran a Model 14 at the Ashland (Ore.) Daily Tidings, setting all the local copy, classifieds and corrections for a TTS-driven Model 8 that set mostly AP wire copy. We were setting 8 on 9, 12 picas wide. It amounted to 11 or 12 galleys a day; there was no spare time to stand around. The linecaster had a counter attached to the plunger; I should have paid more attention and recorded my output each day. They had a model 32 with some large fonts on it for display ads and headlines. Then some foundry type--a Ludlow came years later.
