Date Posted: 00:37:26 06/16/01 Sat John Biggs of San Jose inquired about the Dynavoice pneumatic roll-player. This novelty instrument was produced in the early 1960's. Those interested may read more detailed information about it and related Pianocorder information at the Mechanical Music Digest under my name. Go to: http://mmd.foxtail.com/ - archives - authors - Tom Lear, or by topic - D, Dynavoice. As to availability - practically non-existent. Occasionally one appears on E-bay. They can go for as much as $600 + for a semi-working piece of junk. It is possible to rebuild one of these machines, but quite a challenge. See more info at MMD as above. If anyone is interested in acquiring one for the purpose of archiving rolls, I would suggest another route. Check out "Rollscanners", a newly formed group of mechanical music, computer, and engineering experts who have designed and built a number of scanners for piano rolls. They are now busily designing and building the second generation of roll-scanners based on the very successful first efforts.
