Date Posted: 09:19:11 09/18/02 Wed If you have had problems with the "play" button not staying down and have checked the spring that has been mentioned in this forum, another problem with the cassette player is easily fixed. If the cassette player has not been used in a long time, the grease on the slide plates can solidify making the play button hold down not work. These plates are directly below the buttons and are accessable after removing the cassette player case. You will have to take the slide plates appart (be careful to remember how they go back together), clean off the old grease (denatured alcohol works fine), regrease (I use a white lithium grease) and reassemble. Hope this helps. I thought the problem was the spring and I had to take the cassette player apart to see. If you are in there anyway it might be a good idea to relubricate the slides.
