This does not seem to be a fault with the solenoid itself, but rather a matter of the driver circuit or possibly the adjustment of the sustain pull-in potentiometer on the playback board. Other possibilities include mechanical adjustment of the "dashpot" (which governs release of the solenoid) or the "throw" (which governs the amount of "lift" applied to the dampers).
