I hope, by now, you have your answer. If not, here's what I did, back in 1979, when I built the Sony Pianocorder electronics into a new Story & Clarke spinet.
The instructions told me to cut a 1/2" wide slot the full length of the key bed way back near the strings. The solenoid pins protrude up under the key blocks directly beneath their action contact adjusting screws.
The key bed was very thick, soft wood. I used a hand drill, a saber saw, a hand rasp, and finally a 1/2" cheese grater rasp attachment on the saber saw. It was a long job.
