More on "the capstan line" from our commentator. "The description above is ambiguous at best. The center pivot of the key is the balance rail - - the "capstan line" is where the capstans (towards the back of the keys) push against the bottom of the action. The "capstans" can be turned (via a series of small holes) to take up lost motion (vertical piano) or to to adjust hammer travel distance (grand piano). "An imaginary line can be drawn from the pivot point of the keys (balance rail) to the fulcrum point of the whippen flange. The capstans will intersect this imaginary line where they touch the bottom of the action whippens." As you point out, Tom, the relocation of the solenoids might interfere with proper piano action.
