Date Posted: 05:48:45 12/30/04 Thu My Pianocorder system is used much more frequently now that I have downloaded the 2400+ piano rolls from Terry Smythe. A few days ago I noticed that the power switch was warm to the touch when I turned the system off. But when I turned it on a day or two ago, I saw bluish-green sparks inside the switch as the bronze contacts burned up. I pulled the plug to await a repair. A trip to the do-it-yourself center produced a new SPDT switch with 20 ampere contacts. I drilled a new hole in the plastic mounting bracket (below the existing switch), cut the 1/4 inch push-on connectors, crimped some ring connectors onto the power cable and got back in business in less than an hour. Since the Pianocorder can draw 3000 watts at a momentary current peak, the old switch probably got tired. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
