Date Posted: 22:33:55 04/09/05 Sat I recently learned piano regulation in order to complete my Pianocorder heaven. In so doing, I enlisted the help of a fine local technician and pianist. He asked me where was the soft pedal solenoid. I replied I had been advised that it was not necessary. His response was loud and immediate: "that's part of the performance!" He was soooooo right. I found and purchased the second solenoid on eBay and the difference, especially in classical music, is astounding. Of course it only works if the performer used it, but many, if not all, really good classical artists do make heavy use of the soft pedal. It virtually doubles the effective dynamic range of the performance. If you don't have the second pedal set up, and you listen to classical performances, do yourself a favor and get one! Thanks again to Jules Coco, and Mark Fontana. My heros. Steve [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
