Stumpf 's message, "powers up but won't play" on 23:46:02 11/29/01 Thu Does the "Fine Tuning" light on the cassette deck GO OUT when the tape is playing? If it stays on at all times, try slowing turning the Fine Tuning control and see if the piano begins playing (the LED goes out once the Pianocorder has locked onto the signal from the tape). Also, the little springy felt pressure pads in the cassettes (right behind the tape where the play head makes contact) sometimes fall off. Make sure you're using a tape where the pressure pad is intact. Also make sure the tempo control is at the middle of its range (the system has more trouble syncing at the extreme ends of the range). It could also be that the playback board may need adjustment ("3/4 bit" setting etc.) or repair. For this, I would advise contacting a tech who is familiar with Pianocorder and who still has the Marantz-supplied test equipment and service manuals.
