On Tuesday, October 14, we will be updating our billing system. The current billing system will be unavailable for a short time, starting from 1:30am CT and lasting until approximately 9:00am CT (6:30am – 2:00pm UTC/GMT). During this time, users will not be able to create or modify their accounts. Here are some additional notes that relate to this system upgrade:
- If you are already playing Ultima Online when the billing upgrade begins, you will not be affected. However you will not be able to login to the registration website during this maintenance window.
- You will still be able to log into any Ultima Online shard when this upgrade occurs.
- You will not be able to place or trade houses between 10:45pm on Monday, October 13 through 5:00pm Wednesday, October 15 CT (3:45am Tuesday, October 14 though 10:00pm Wednesday, October 15 UTC/GMT). (House customization will not be affected by this; you will still be able to customize your house during this time.)
- You will not be able to collect new Veteran Rewards between 10:45pm on Monday, October 13 through 5:00pm Thursday, October 16 CT (3:45am Tuesday, October 14 though 10:00pm Thursday, October 16 UTC/GMT). (Vet Rewards that can only be used by characters on accounts of a certain age will not be affected by this; you will still be able to use your age-specific vet rewards during this time.)
After the upgrade, our current subscribers will notice some interface adjustments when they go to modify their account information. Players who create new accounts will see more substantial changes, as our billing system will now be integrated with the larger one used by other Electronic Arts massively-multiplayer online games (Earth & Beyond and The Sims Online).
European subscribers please note that your Ultima Online fees will be in your local currency instead of US dollars. There is no change in the cost of UO, although the new European Value Added Tax will also be integrated into your subscription fees from this point on; the purchase of any new subscription time will include these currency and VAT changes.
