Mar 7 2003 9:55AM CST (GMT -06:00) If you’ve just logged into UO and found yourself standing in a safe place other than where you logged out, don’t panic. You were probably just saved from being trapped in a “black hole.” Our new “anti-blackholing” workaround is being implemented on all AoS-enabled shards. When you’re logging in, it detects whether your game client is about to be overwhelmed with an excessive amount of information (such as nearby many vendor malls). Instead of crashing and leaving your character stranded in a location that won’t allow you to log in, you’ll get automatically teleported, or “telestormed,” to a new, safe location. (By the way, all of the Felucca locations are safe for both blue and red characters.) You’ll know you’ve been telestormed because of the new location and a system message notation, but there won’t be any special fanfare or special effects. Your pets will also telestorm out of that location. If your pet isn’t right next to you upon login and try using your Crystall Ball of Pet Summoning to retrieve them. (Note: Because of Ilshenar’s special teleporting rules, you won’t be able to retrieve your pet while in this facet—simply change facets and try summoning it again.) A truer fix for blackholing is still in the works. Once we eliminate the problem altogether, this telestorming workaround will no longer be needed. But, in the meantime please be cognizant of where you’re logging out—super-sized vendor malls and houses with enormous amounts of hoarded loot can be the most troublesome areas.
