There can be no knowledge in the intellect that has not in some manner come from external sensation. Mysticism (divine revelation etc.) might appear to contradict this, but, if it is possible, the information gathered would be in the manner of the recipient - which as humans, would reference external sensation.

External senses grasp their objects as presented.

There are conditions that must be verified in external-sense knowledge (experience?) before there can be any question of validity or any criticism of the value of such knowledge. (1.) The sense must be normal in organic structure and condition; (2.) The sense must be employed upon its proper object; (3.) The proper object must be portioned to the sense, its impression being neither too strong or too faint; (4.) The medium in which the sense operates must be suitable for its normal functioning.

Error is usually found to be an error of judgment. One errs because one judges quickly, and without taking into account the imperfections mentioned.
