- Basketball predictions -- aaaaa, 01:16:05 12/09/01 Sun [2]
Here are my boys basketball predictions for this upcoming season. I believe AC will win the division over EHT. Middle will win the other division in the American Conference followed by Buena and Mainland. St. Augs is the easy choice in the National. Playoff qualifiers will be AC, EHT, OC, Millville, Middle, Buena, Mainland, St. Augs, Holy Spirit, Wildwood Catholic, Sacred Heart, Pleasantville, and possibly Cape May Tech.

why all the talk about eht on here in my opionion theyt arent even that good. the teams we should be talking about are the same two the are good year after year in st. augustine prep and middle. the prep will be good no matter what. whereas middle has no real star but they have a greart coach that gets the most out of every player on his team and yes they will win 20 games again and a division title. so lets start talking about the powers in the league and no the contenders.

Can anybody beat St. Augustine? It seems like they are as good as ever. I'm interested to see where you have them ranked on the Online 25 Saturday.
There is also Holy Spirit and Pleasantville and Wildwood Catholic should be good.
Is there more talent in the American or National?

dont worry middle will win 20 games again. what a tradition of ball they have going on at school year after year they are always winning no matter how much talent is on the team. think of all the great they have had john leahy, lammar greer, stephano anderson, the oneill brothers, ty wilson, and bo farrow and the list keeps going they will once again find a way to win 20 games. tom feraco gets the most out of every player on his team thats why is his the best coach in south jersey.

- St. Joe vs. Hammonton -- Cape Crusader, 14:48:21 11/29/01 Thu [1]
The best rivalry in all of SJ is this annual game. James Hargrave proved why he is the best player in the Cape and an all state player. He and Bryan Adams were all over the field and were virtually unblockable. Kudos go out to Hammonton for also playing a great game. Good Luck to both teams as they will show this weekend why the Cape is the best conference in all of South Jersey when they will both bring home titles. Also good luck to Coach DeRosa and EHT.

Well it looks like EHT's defense is as good as any in the league including OC or Hammonton. I don;t think and cannot remember a high school team from South Jersey with the overall team speed that this defense has. They appear to have grown in confidence with their thrashing of Mainland on Thanksgiving by opening up their playbook and beating up on a team who had 2 weeks earlier handle a very good AC team that had given EHT and OC all they wanted earlier in the season. They will be able to match team speed with WW this Sat and therefore should win if they do not get burnt by any fleaflicker or double reverse pass and such that WW likes to use. Good Luck Eagles and with the win I feel will establish themselves as the
#1 team in South Jersey.

Yet again, it is who you know that got Tim Legler out of a jail cell. He's a pervert. I also heard that Katy's parents supported the relationship 100%. What does anyone know about this and was Melissa Doyle also involved in any way.

Well EHT sure showed alot of moxie when coming back from that loss to OC. I was chastized for getting on the EHT coaches after the OC loss and said they were outcoached (they were), this time I would like to commend them for an excellent game plan agaisnt Absegami. There were no tendencies on offense as they did an excellent job of keeping Gami off balance by throwing on any down and showing for imagination with reverses and such. Congrats to Tony and his staff, excellent game plan. It is so much harder to defend when you have no idea what is coming. Maybe he can pass onto the PHIL Eagles a little bit of thar ingenuity that they showed agaisnt Gami.

Relax Tony! I was only making an observation and stating the obvious. Experience is a major factor in high school football both at the coaching and playing level. OC had a big experience factor in both departments in big games and I believe it showed. The EHT coaches have done a good job and will have a chance at redemption in the playoffs and tonight agaisnt Gami, which is another team on the verge but will meet I believe a determined EHT and a different philosophy offensively from EHT. Good coaches make adjustments and here is hoping EHT's do. I have the utmost repect for the EHT coaches and will be pulling for them. But it still does not change the fact that OC outcoached them last week. And by no way is that meant to be a put down! Don't forget the additions made to that staff included coach Oberg formerly of Delsea who is one of the all-time greats in south jersey coaching.

- OC-EHT -- Birds Follower, 06:33:28 10/22/01 Mon [2]
Well OC won again with a stellar defense and coaching! The big game experience of the coaching I believe was the biggest factor. Lack of discipline by the EHT offense espically with the 5 turnovers can be contributed to the OC defense which was battle tested and the EHT offense which obviously now shows that it was not! Will these 2 teams meet again in the states? Will the result be the same? Will EHT be able to expand their vanilla offense enough to take advantage of what OC was offering or will they continue to be stubborn and have that philosophy that if I execute my basic package I will win? I don't think so. EHT should take advantage of this experience to see that they must be more deversified offensively and throw the ball on 1st and 2nd down to other recievers besides Vasquez who were not given double coverage. This will be a huge check to see where EHT's coaches are in their growing process. Will they progress by making the necessary adjustments to their offense or will they become another high school staff who is OK but cannot step up and really COACH. Again congtrats to OC and their coaches and to EHT and their staff it is time to STEP UP!

What about the Milville wide reciever/return man. He is I believe the fastest player I have seen in football gear. He ran down some of those EHT backs espically I believe it was Williams who ran back an INT that was called back but the Milville kid had to make up 10 yds. on him in the 70 some yards they ran. Sorry don't know his name but he is the fastest in football gear I have seen this year, and remember that is the speed that counts, not on the track or some other venue but football speed!

It will be quite a game on Friday night -
EHT has the most dangerous offense in the CAL
OC has the toughest defense in the CAL
the winner is in first place
the winner also gets a higher Group 3 ranking
can OC handle the EHT speed?
can EHT shut down the OC running game?
can OC finally throw the ball?
will the special teams play a role?
It will be quite a game!!!

- EHT-OC -- Birds Follower, 08:49:02 10/14/01 Sun [2]
Well Friday is the reckoning night for EHT. Though they appear to have the better team with some advantages at key position, they do not have the recent tradition of winning this type of BIG Game. They historicaly have not done well against OC. They have a big advantage at the QB spot and also at wide reciever. I believe the run defenses are equal but OC's pass defense gets the nod, but then again OC does not or cannot throw the ball so that advantage may be moot. The plethora of running backs that EHT uses should wear down OC but as OC showed yesterday turnovers and taking advantage of them is so important at this level as well as any level.OC has a big kicking game advantage but I do not see it becoming a factor as I see EHT winning by 2 touchdowns IF and always a big if at the high school level, both teams play to their athletic potential. Also will the big game coaching experience become a factor? Excellent adjustments made by OC yesterday to offset what Mainland did early defensively.

Well it looks like it could be a very good year for the Philadelphia Eagles and The EHT Eagles. Both have their best teams in some time. The only worry in Philly is can the running game come up big when necessary? And it EHT what will happen if they get behind and have to throw? Does EHT have a hurry up offense? Can they run a 2 minute drill? It is tough out of the Deleware. Hope they have another package they have yet to show. And I hope if they do, they show it in a game before they need it. It is 1 thing to practice it and another to perform at game speed. Shawn Kent, EHT's QB has been impressive as a first time starter, but can he run the drill? Can he drop back and throw successfully when the opposition knows he has to? Time will tell.

it must be because of coaching. i think Absegami has good talent with Tyrell Williams, David Ashworth, Jordan Alcoba, Kevin Endicott, Randy Taylor, Anthony Fontaine, etc and a couple of key transfers; Gary Harris a key transfer from Holy Spriit, the junior has a lot of quickness and can hit like a truck. he should play a big role in the Absegami 2001 football season and Ryan goodman from Middletownship a freshman from Middle has some talent but no varsity calibur in group 4. he is a good future investment for Absegami. lets see if they fail to make the playoffs again with players like that!!!!
