I think that the boys are a thrill to watch but the always start the game good but never finish that way. They have great players but they aren't doing anything with it. Like Charles Clark and Lee Frazier they are fanominal atheletes. And one kid I watched is going to be a star soon I think his name is Thomas Bryant he's a freshman.

- Running Back -- Cape-Atlantic League (Big,Tough,Speed,& Great Vision), 17:55:29 12/22/06 Fri [1]
LaMont Roberts was a great running back out of Pleasantville High School. He came to the Greyhounds his junior year and was out with an ankle injury that sidelined him 4 games but he still managed to gain 789 yards rushing only in 6 games impressive. His senior year was his best he gained 1,150 yards and 16 touchdowns missed one game against Buena in the regular season. He took his team to the playoffs with one of the area's biggest upset against a team which was 8-0 at that time. Hammonton Blue Devils was favorite to win it all but LaMont Roberts stood in there way with a 67 yard fumble return late in the 4th quarter that sealed the game for them. The following week they lost the Group 2 Semi-Finals State Championship game to Andrew Mack and Buena. LaMont Roberts made the All-South Jersey First Team, along with the All-Cape Atlantic League First Team they ended their season with a 7-3 record.

As said before, A.Jay Rowe always comes up big. He is soft spoken, but will make a big play when needed. Against Academy Park (PA), Rowe clinched the victory with a 90-yard interception return. Although EHT should've blown Academy Park out, they did their job in the second half, and Rowe came up strong. What do you think about Rowe?

Lenny Hayes, Butchie Warner, Bobby Coleman, and my freshman alum at Wagner College Kevin Brooks were very talented during the 80's. Even though I did not play in the CAPE, we at Edgewood High School used to play summer league ball against some of Atlantic City's best and they were tough. We were no slouches either, as we one South Jersey Group 3 and went to the states in my junior year. But the class of SJ during those eras was Atlantic City even if they could not beat Camden. By the way, we played Camden in scrimages all the time and I still feel that AC was better. Camden had Billy Culbertson, Milt Wagner, Dennis Still, Charlie Payton, Charles Howell.

I disagree with some of your list of selectees. Tony Davenport was by far the the most exciting player in Cape History. If Pleasantville had a stronger atheletic director, he would have easily went to a big D1 school and become a great NBA player. Ask his competition. Without a doubt, Reggie Miller and Chris Ford should be there. However, the rest of your list needs some adjustments. He (T.Davenport), scored about 1900 points in three years for the Greyhounds. Although Willie Glass had a good game, Davenport was head overhills above him. Also his brother Bruce should have placed on your list. He was a 1000 point plus scorer when it was very difficult to score in the cape. Asked Charlie Wise about Bruce. I also didn't see Floydd Shelton of Wildwood on your list another spectacular 1000 point player. Again, check with Charlie Wise. Craig Roberson of Middle Township should have also found his way on the list. And how about Greg Jackson and the late Daryyl "Skin" Martin of the 1974 state champion Pleasantville Greyhounds. Bob Engleheart of Holy Spirit could have also found a home on your list. I would like to respectfully suggest that you reconsider your list. Corkey Hunter Atlantic City, Steve Allen Atlantic City, Carl Kent, Pleasantville. The list is endless.

- Ocean City H.S. football in the 1960s -- Dave Smith, 11:42:36 11/28/04 Sun [1]
My family and I left Ocean City in 1963 (after 9th grade) and moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. I lost track of Ocean City high school sports and still think about all those great fall days that I spent watching football at Ocean City High, Oakcrest, Hammonton, Woodstown, etc. Does anyone have a compilation of football scores during this era (1963-1969)? I would, for the sake of nostalgia, really love to catch up with this magic era in my life. Thanks!

How come the forum is not listed by entry? It has messages that are a month old on top of list and newer message must be found by scrolling through list. Is this something that can be corrected so that a subject that is brought up will not be overlooked?
EHT's Abdussimand is probable the best of all their backs and in my opinion much more dangerous than Cook from OC. In the 1 writers opinion if Oc has 2 of the best O linemen than that would definately help Cooks numbers and also their inability to throw the ball increases his touches making his stats a little misleading. Anyone agree or disagree?

Absegami appears to be a good football team that is taking their program in the right direction. Doug Coleman is a great addition as Head Coach. Absegami plays well against O.C. no matter what coach is at the helm.
Ocean City is working hard and has some good young talent. O.C. could be one year away from another run at the big dance. Can the Raiders win their home opener?
It should be a great game and I can't wait for Saturday.

A.Jay Rowe had their only touchdown last year. This time he put the game out of reach with his 43 yard interception returned for a touch down to make it 27-11 with 3:17 left in the 4th. He had 2 interceptions in the game, and the first one was nearly returned for a TD. Good Luck and great game. Very exciting!

After seeing a tough EHT Football team lose to a very great William Penn team from Deleware, do you think that EHT cannot pick up the pieces Although the final scor was 21-7. EHT led at hlaftime 7-6. It was a great game to watch. The Cape Atlantic has to now watch out for a hungry EHT team to regroup. Also, watch out for A.J. Rowe. He showed the Cape that he has the quickest feet in the league after breaking and juking 6 tackles to score on a 70-yard punt return. Last year's EHT returner, Jason Vasquez, was a threat, but Rowe seems put on a bigger threat to the leauge by the way he broke the 70-yarder.

I have watched for two weeks now and it seems like OC, AC and Mainland are the top teams. I know Gami, EHT and Millville wer suppose to challenge but they are very average. The play calling at all three of those schools is bad and they make too many mistakes to win big games. OC looked great today, running the option will make them tough to defend. Now they are stretching the defense and openning up the middle for their two backs. AC is quick but I wonder if they are tough enough to win the big games. Mainland looks god, but it seems like they find a way to lose th big games recently.

OC supposedly hasn't looked strong in scrimmages so far this season and that could be a major worry to mike pelligrino. Rumor is their starting goalie is hurt and may not be able to play at all. I believe though that adam sternberger will not let this team destruct in his senior and final season at oc. I believe that their offense has plenty of power but the real question with oc lies on the defensive front. With underrated sweeper kevin dougherty gone who will fill his shoes. Will it be another Melchioni or Mclaughlin? Those are the only two returning defenders so who else is going to fill the void? I believe this is oc's achilies heal and until they get it fixed pelligrino and sternberger may have a long year ahead.

I like Atlantic City, though everyone seemed to leave them for dead after losing to Lower Cape May.
But Buena, Oakcrest, Middle, Millville and EHT are certainly all challengers.
It seems that the Millville and EHT personnel losses might be tough to overcome. Buena has been hurt by Cocking missing games with an injury. But Middle could be the dark horse, winning without Boo Evans, when he returns.
Anybody agree?

- What Stinks About Sacred Heart -- CAL Fan, 19:17:50 01/09/02 Wed [2]
Sacred Heart knew in the summer that the Wildwood/Sacred Heart girls game would be a good one, and a big crowd. But they decide the DAY BEFORE THE GAME that they would move the start time from 5:30pm until 7pm. That totally stinks.
It doesnt matter much for me, but I'm sure that some people have to change their lives for this. What gives?

- Marc Milbourne -- MIA, 23:59:07 12/26/01 Wed [2]
Does anybody know why Marc Milbourne didn't play for Holy Spirit?
You could make a great team from the guys who AREN'T playing - Thomas Baker of Millville, Boo Evans of Middle, Nana Mensah-Bonso of The Prep, Roshan Johnson of Atlantic City --- now Milbourne.

- What is happening to Middle Township? -- Ryan, 01:33:39 01/01/02 Tue [1]
I play for Middle Township's freshman team and i see a varsity team like Middle has never had before.First of all Boo Evans, arguably one of the top five point guards in south jersey, is out for a month for discipline problems. Second of all, for those of you who saw the middle vs. winslow game players are taking off their jerseys when they foul out and kids are giving up on defense.Third of all, we can't distribute the ball, to anyone. Fourth, why didn't Adam Wakefield play against Hatboro Horsham or Winslow Twp. He is one of the players who can come in at the end of a quarter and force turnovers. Lets just hope the whiole year isnt a roller coaster like it has been.

- What is happening in CAL basketball??? -- Jeremy, 10:57:08 12/22/01 Sat [1]
Lower Cape May beats Atlantic City, Oakcrest beats Buena, Mainland beats EHT then gets shut out in the fourth quarter against AC, Absegami almost beats EHT, Ocean City almost beats Millville.
This is one crazy league. Who will win it? And is it too much to expect that the winner will have a chance against the Prep?
By the way, does anybody know if the CAL games will be at Stockton again?

- How about some boys basketball -- linkmeyer, 22:16:53 12/02/01 Sun [13]
Now that the football season is over, let's talk some basketball. How do you think Atlantic City will be this year? Will Middle Township have another 20 win season? Can Buena make noise in the post season this year? Is EHT the hype that they created for themselves? Will Millville be a force with Baker and company? Can Mainland make noise in a division with Buena and Middle? Can Absegami rebound from a dreadful 3 win campaign from last year? Will Oakcrest survive yet another coaching change? Will Lower Cape May even win a game?
