Author: PHOTRON
Subject: The holographic historian scrutinized the projected memo....
In reply to: CAL-37 's message, "Bullets" on 15:22:24 07/09/02 Tue

His image leaned in and squinted, though all such actions were in fact pantomime. It was a series of microsensor lenses scattered throughout the holorooms that acted as PHOTRON's real "eyes". The same cameras which projected his likeness as well as other figures and environments doubled as scanners. The document seemed accurate enough, save for one small detail. PHOTRON frowned as much from the irritating flickering of his form caused by CAL's hand as from this incongruity.

"I do believe this is all well and--stop that--all well and--really, now knock it off!

::ahem::

As I was saying, this writ seems official enough save for two things:

1) There's only one 'z' in 'Howitzer'.

2) The captain's signature would only appear on the request approval. Any technical improvements or staff assignments would first be proposed by FORTRAN.

I don't see his name anywhere on this documentation. Furthermore, while there are those on this station who treat me like some kind of....mere application....I am linked in with the Central Computer. It would be a simple matter for me to look you up. Guess what?

You're not in there."

Admittedly, PHOTRON was being more petulant than was the norm. Perhaps CAL-37 was operating under higher orders. A direct writ from Howitzer could mean some kind of intelligence operation, something under the RSO jusrisdiction. With the recent security problems on the station, several in his vicinity, and with the extra pockets of soldiers PHOTRON noted stationed at various points within the station, it was a possibility.

CAL-37's story could be a cover, but an official one. Still, the remark about his 'misadventure' irked the petulant program. Twice now the droid had implied knowledge of PHOTRON's trip to COM somewhat matter-of-factly. It was the worst kind of subtle blackmail, and the only thing that kept him from projecting over to the nearby security forces and citing his misgivings. He'd have to call CAL's bluff and admit to nothing until he was sure the mechanoid actually knew anything. And even if he did, PHOTRON still knew little about this arrival.

For someone who prided himself on being aware of all happenings in the SPUniverse, this was most irksome of all....
