King was comfortable walking and trotting under saddle. It was time for the horse's first canter with a rider on his back. Saddle warms the flashy colt up at the walk and trot, then Mikki comes into the ring with the lounge line and Saddle asks the colt to halt. he stands squarely, his neck arched proudly. Mikki runs the lounge line through his bit, then flicks the whip and sends the horse off trotting. after a few minutes, Saddle sits deep and gently pushes him to her outside rein with her inside leg and Mikki flicks the whip again and tells him "Canter" firmly. King moves into a nervous canter. After a few strides, Saddle gently squeezes on the reins and asks him to trot. the colt moves into a long strided trot. they do a few more short canters with him, then cool him out and turn him out*
