i gave Legend a good grooming and then led the skittish colt to the schooling ring. i decided to lunge him to calm him down first. i worked him at all gaits then, when he had calmed down , i halted him. i let him smell the saddle pad i had worked him with the other day and then slid it onto his back, althouh he stood still, he trembled and tossed his head. I gave him a while to get used to it, and then I moved it around again… then once again gave him some time. It took a while, but he eventually seemed to get used to it… I then praised him and fed him a treat, a carrot. I then got out the light girth and tied it gently aroound him. I let him adjust to the pressure. He was a little skittish, but he soon calmed down. I then lunged him with the light pressure of the girth, and he soon became used to it, and relaxed. I then undid the girth and worked him on the lunge line for another 20 mins, then fed him a carrot and turned him out for the arvo.
