After leaving the tack room, I entered the Stallions barn and then slipped into Mementos stall. I gave him a grooming and then led him to the saddling area. I saddled, then mounted my jet black TB stallion and walked him to the ring. I had set up several jumps and was planning to work him over them for half an hour. They were quite simple jumps, but quite high, with the lowest being 4’. After warming him up I cantered him towards the first jump, about 4’3”. He lunged and cleared it well, landing neatly. We raced towards the next jump. He collected himself and I worked on his striding. He took off at the perfect moment, lifting his forelegs high enough to clear the 4’5” jump. We completed the rest of the jumps well including the 4’7” jump. I then schooled him over these jumps, once again working on his strides and his landings. His paces were quite even, and by the end of the lesson he was no longer having to take off early or late to avoid hitting the bars. I then walked him to my other arena where my friend had set up an entire show jumping course with the heights varying between 3’6” and 4’6”. I took him around this in great time and with only one fault. I then trotted and walked him around the arena until he had cooled and then I dismounted, unsaddled and turned him out in his regular paddock for the rest of the afternoon.
