both fillies had come very far in their training. Star was ready to be ridden for the first time, and Glory was learning how to lounge. Mikki had been helping with their training and training his own project, Misty. Today, i was going to back Star for the first time. Mikki lounged her at the walk, trot and canter in both directions, then we stood her at the mounting block and i walked up it. We had practiced that with her before and she stood calmly as i climbed up. Then i leaned over her back, lowering my weight slowly. When my weight touched the saddle, she danced away nervously. Mikki circled her around and i leaned over her again. She danced away again. We repeated this several times, until she stood calmly and let me lean my weight onto her saddle. then Mikki led her around several times before i carefully swung my leg over her back. she half reared nervously as i sat on her back, not touching the reins or using my legs on her sides. Mikki led her around several times, with me talking soothingly to the filly the whole time, then i dismounted and we put her away and got Glory. we lounged her with a bridle in both directions, then put a saddle on her and led her around with the saddle on and the girth loose, letting her get used to it. Then we cooled her out and put her away
