I mounted Honor and guided her toward the track. She tugged on the reins almost pulling them out from my fingers. I pulled back softly and she stopped tugging. She pranced onto the track and I asked her for a trot. Then I asked her to canter. The filly leaped into a smooth canter and I sat back softly to slow her down a little bit. Then I turned her toward the inside of the track. I cantered her and then leaned forward and cued her to gallop. I leaned into it letting my hands move with her head as she raced down the track. The wind made her mane fly as it whipped my face. All too soon it was time to pull the tall filly back up to a walk. I sat back deep in the saddle and signaled her to slow down. I patted her neck and walked her around to cool her out. I jumped from the saddle led the filly back to the barn by her reins. I untacked and bathed the sweaty filly and then put her in her stall with a couple of flakes of hay and fresh water. Then I went get Joe. I was going to watch him ride Sunset today. Joe had the mare all tacked up and ready to go. He mounted and walked toward the arena and warmed her up. Then they went over a little practice course, he was expertly guiding Sunet around. "Ok, come here Joe," I called and he led the mare over to where I was standing. "Sunset, hesitates almost all of the jumps. You need to work on that." Joe nodded. He went back to work with Sunset. After 20 minutes they went over the cours again. "Good," I called out to Joe. He went over a couple more times an then put her away. I went to get Sparkle and mounted the pretty mare. I trotted her over some ground poles. Then took her over some small jumps to warm her up. Then I took her over a new course. She bounced right over the vertical and I gave her a pat. "Good girl Sparkle,'' I urged her on toward a small bounce. She cleared it and the rest pretty well except for a big oxer wich she really had to leap over nocking down a rail. I cooled her out and put her away.
