I fetched her from her stall and after grooming and tacking her up, I led her to the schooling ring. I lunged her while she wore a full saddle and where she was warmed up and had got a little bit of a work out I pulled her up. I called over Alice, and she put her weight on Penny’s saddle. She then sprung up into the saddle. It had been a few days since this had happened but Penny seemed to remember that she meant no harm. Penny stood still while Alice sat in the saddle. I asked her to walk forward, this time on the lunge line and she did, walking smoothly around me as if Alice was not even there. Alice put more of her weight into the saddle and as the lesson progressed began to gently apply some pressure with her legs. Penny reacted normally, speeding up a little as if she knew what she was supposed to do. I trotted them as well. Penny found that a little strange as now Alice would occasionally slam into the saddle accidentally. She soon grew used to it and no longer side stepped as it happened. I even cantered them and Penny behaved well. I slowed them down and halted her. Alice dismounted. A huge smile broke onto my face as I realised that Perfection Penny was now fully broken in and could be now trained from the saddle. I walked over to her and gave her a big pat. She was pretty much cooled down so I untacked her there and walked her down to the yearlings paddock where I turned her out for the rest of the day.
