(Leash, I'm REALLY sorry for posting these training sessions so late!)

One of the grooms at TF, named Melanie handed me the reins of a black TB stallion named Memento.I mounted him, & squeezed him into a walk. The stallion was very energetic, with his ears pricked, and his feet prancing along. But, that was a bad habit, so I sponged on the reins to get Memento to stop prancing.Sponging my hands on the reins stopped Memento from prancing, & another squeeze of my legs moved him into a working walk.I warmed up the black TB at a walk, trot & canter. We were in the outdoor jumping arena at Timeless Farm.I was working with Memento on showjumping today. My 6 y/o son, Jonathan had gotten the job as jump crew for my training sessions today. That job rotated every day, so all of my kids except for Darci would be the jump crew. When they were at school & I was jumping horses, one of the grooms would usually do jump crew duty."Hey Jonathan!" I called."could you please set that green single jump to a 2 foot x-rail.Also, could you drop that green oxer to 3 feet?" Jonathan nodded, & put all of the jumps down to the height where I wanted them.I squeezed Memento into a canter, & popped him over the 3 foot x-rail.The black horse was obviously bored by the small jump, but I wanted to warm him up over a couple of smaller jumps before I did a course with him.I kept Memento cantering to the 3 foot oxer.He cleared the jump easily.I slowed the horse down to a walk, and walked Memento a lap before getting him to canter again.I was jumping a 4 foot single fence with him, then doing a tight turn to a coop & then doing a combination of 3 jumps.Memento leaped over the 4 foot fence.I turned my head to the next jump before Memento had even landed.I used rein & leg to get him to make the tight turn to the 3'-9" coop.He cleared that jump, & then I brought him down to a slower canter for the combination.I kept teh black TB stallion at a good pace I gave him rein for the jump over a 3'-6" single. When he landed, I imediatly took back the rein.I repeated the process over the next jump of the combination, a 4 foot oxer. Then I let him go a little faster, & leaped over the last jump of the combination, a 4'-3" triple.I slowed Memento to a walk and patted him on the neck.He had done those 5 jumps perfectly! Then I jumped him over a 4 foot course. He knocked a rail jumping over a liverpool, he had spooked a bit at the water.I finished the course with him, then walked the TB over to the liverpool & let him sniff it.Once the young horses curiousity was satisfied, I jumped him over the liverpool a couple of times & then walked out Memento and dismounted.I led him back to his stall, untacked him, gave him a peppermint, & turned him out in his roomy paddock. Then I went back to the barn where Crystal was waiting for mw, all tacked up for dressage & ready to go....

G2G, I will continue this when I have time tonight!
