I grabbed my 2 crops & yanked on Ghostwind Warrior's reins. In about 5 seconds, I practically jumped on him.Warrior had to have the worst ground manners I had ever seen in a horse or pony.He also wasn't very user friendly when you were riding him either. My 13 y/o daughter, Arianna, walked up to the rail & called "uh, mom...did you pick up 2 crops by accident or something?" I did not release my death grip on Warrior's reins & called to her "it's so I can get him to do his flying lead changes!" under my breath, I grumbled "if he'll do them."Arianna said "ok mom, just wanted to make sure." then she waved & walked off.Warrior pulled a buck & tried to take off.I was very glad that I did have a death grip on his reins, or otherwise, I would end up with my behind in the arena dirt.I thought to myself, this pony can act worse than a racehorse! jeesh! The light grey, 14.1 hand pony pulled against the reins, & I let him trot.He started out very fast, but I finally got him back to a controlled trot after a few bucks from him. After a bit of trotting, I let Warrior canter. The pony had other ideas & went into a hand gallop instead.Eventually, I was able to slow Warrior to a canter. After warming up the light grey Connemara stallion @ a canter.I trotted him over a few x-rails.Though I had to do everythin but choke Warrior to keep him from taking off, Warrior trotted the x-rails well.I cantered Warrior over the x-rails next.He was good about that to, except he tried to rush over the cross-rails.I did that 1 more time with him & decided to work on some flying lead changes.I had to tap Warrior with the crop whenever we did a flying lead change, but he managed to do them. Then I walked out Warrior, dismounted, untacked him, hosed him off, gave him a peppermint, & finally, turned him out in his paddock.
