Allisa, one of the groms at Timeless Farm, handed me the reins of Black Eagle. The black Connemara stallion was very excited to go.Despite being only 14.2 hands, this 13 year old pony was a mazing jumper who was currently jumping 4 feet with potential to do higher. He was also a great dressage horse.Black Eagle was a amazing 3-day eventer who was doing 4 star(****) events.I said "thanks" to Allisa when she handed me Eagle's reins & mounted the excited Connemara.I sat deep & back into the black leather dressage saddle & pushed my heels down, making sure that my leg was in the right position.I gathered some rein, sat up & lightly squeezed Eagle forward. You could hardly see me squeeze Eagle into a walk.I got Eagle into a nice working walk & walked him around for a while before asking for a trot.Despite being a pony, Eagle's trot was very smooth & easy to sit to.Once I had warmed up the black Connemara at a trot, I got him to lengthen his trot.Lengthing isn't extending, its just getting the horse or pony to bring up the speed in there trot while they are trotting.I saw Arianna in the outdoor jumping arena, jumping her new horse, You Wish, a very pretty dark bay Oldenburg mare, over a 5-foot jumper course.I watched as she jumped Wish through a combination. I called to her "don't let wish buil through that combination!" Arianna heard me & slowed Wish down a tad.I went back to paying attention to Eagle & had him extend his trot.I got Eagle to do a beautiful extended trot. Then I slowed him down & did a collected trot with him.Next, I squeezed him into a canter. After a while, I started doing some canter circles with him.Black Eagle was good about doing both 20 & 10 meter circles. Then I got him to collect his canter.Once done with that, I walked him for a little while & then got him to do a extended trot. Then I collected his trot once again & started doing some more advanced dressage movements like renvers, travers, rein backs(schalten) & a zig-zag appuyment.(half-pass)Then I walked out Eagle & dismounted.I patted the black Connemara stallion & pulled up my stirrups. Then I led Eagle back to the stable & untacked him. Then I hosed him off.Eagle drank from the hose & played arouns in the water. Finally, I gave him a juicy carrot & turned him out in his paddock.
