Carrying his grooming gear I walked into Memento’s stall and began giving him a good brush over. I also gave him a quick check to see if he had any little injuries. I clipped on his lead rope and lead him outside into the sun and cros tied him. Next went back into the barn and brought out his jumping saddle and other tack. I saddled him up and lead him to the outdoor ring, where I had previously set up a jumping course. I mounted and warmed him up walking him around the outside. I then began the jumping course. The jumps were all around the 3’8” - 4’1” mark and to my surprise he had no troubles with any of them. He even tackled the triple quite well with his strides being quite even. He obviously trusted me as I guided him towards the brick wall, which he would normally flinch a, as he just obeyed my commands and cruised over, clearing it by inches. After the course was completed with only one penalty, I cooled him by walking him around for a while, doing a little work on his dressage at a walk and trot. He had worked up a sweat so I hosed him down and turned him out into his paddock for the rest of the day.
