*Camelot King*
Susan parked the truck and trailer in the parking lot at GRF. It wa already 9:00 at night. Mike walked over and said, “What did you buy?” Susan grinned. “Who says I bought anything? Oh, alright, I bought a horse. Take a look.” She said, walking into the trailer. “Another Thoroughbred, I bet.” He muttered. His eyes widened in surprise as the huge Shire stallion walked smoothly down the ramp. His black coat gleamed and his four stockings were a dazzling white. He towered at an impressive 18.2hh, muscular and proud. “Susan, that horse is huge.” Mike said. Alli walked out of the barn and her jaw dropped. “Mom, I think you brought home the wrong horse.” The girl said in shock. Susan laughed and took the stallion to the barn. She put him in the largest stall they had and fed him. He muched contently while she and Alli watched. “His name is Camelot King. He is 6 y/o and exactly 18.2 hands. He is a purebred Shire.” Susan said. Alli smiled appreciatively and then walked to the house. Laura walked in and glanced at the new horse. “Going for something bigger, Mom?” the 17 y/o joked. They chatted about his breeding potential and then they cut out the barn light, heading for the house.
THE NEXT DAY…
Susan walked into the barn and laughed. Camelot was pacing determinedly in his stall, waiting for his breakfast. She fed him and then took care of the other horses, before heading back to his stall. He had finished eating and was laying down. She smiled and opened the stall door. She led him into the barn aisle and hooked him in crossties. “Hey, Camelot.” She said. She began to groom his glossy black coat with the soft brush, just to give his coat a little bit more shine. After a 5 minutes of grooming, Susan took him to his paddock and smiled as he cantered gracefully around it.
