I walked into the barn & grabbed a nylon lead rope off of one of my horses stalls.I walked down to one of the various mares pastures @ Timeless Farm & let myself in.I walked over to a palomino QH mare named Peaches N' Cream.Peaches rubbed on me as I clipped a lead rope to her halter.I let her since she didn't have any tack on.I had found that Peaches rubbed against just about anyone. This included other horses.I patted the pretty, 6 y/o mare & led her up to the mares barn.I put Peaches in her stall & walked to the tack room.I grabbed a grooming tote, a western trail/show/ pleasure saddle, a silver plated breastplat & a regular western bridle.I carried all of this back to Peaches stall, & started grooming the beautiful, golden colored mare.Peaches enjoyed being groomed & relaxed. When I haf finished grooming Peaches, I put on her tack.Peaches was good about being saddled, and took the bit when she felt it being pushed into her mouth.Peaches had excellent ground manners, & was good about practically everything. After I had led Peaches to the arena & had lunged her for about 15 minutes, I mounted her.I kept my reins long & loose, and relaxed into the saddle, but still sat up and kept my shoulders straight.Peaches barely needed a squeeze toget her to walk. The 15.2 hand mare kept her neck staight & down, and moved like a western horse should.I walked the QH maref or a couple of minutes before gently squeezing her into a western dog-trot.Peaches had smooth, slow movement, & her stride was very easy to sit to.After a few laps of dog-trotting in both directions, I got Peaches to pick up a jog. After a while of jogging, I had her pick up the faster trot, & did that with her for a while before loping & cantering in both directions. Then I worked on backing up with her, which she did perfectly, & took her on a quick trail ride so Peaches could cool off. After the quick trail ride, I dismounted & led the palomino QH mare back up to the stable where I untacked her, fed her a carrot & the led her down to her pasture. In the same pasture, were her old pasture mates from when Meghan had owned her, a dapple grey TB mare named Silver Sparkles, & a sandy chestnut Dutch Warmblood mare named Double-Dutch, or Dutchess for short.I unclipped the navy blue & burgandy colored lead rope from Peaches leather halter & set her free in the pasture. Then I walked back up to the stable to clean my tack with leather cleaner.
