I pulled the truck into the driveway and parked it, behind it in my two horse trailer, Simply the Best, a stallion I had leased for a week or two was restless and prancing.
"Whoa there big boy, easy." I backed him out slowly and Julia came running out.
"Moooooommmmmmmmyyyy!" she yelled, and Best reared, and it was a good thing that he had his head bumper on, too!
"JULIA! How many times do I have to tell you? Never come running around a restless stallion!" I irriatedly replied.
"About a million." she smartly replied "Oops."
"Thats right oops! No riding for a week!" I said.
"B-b-but..."
"No ifs, ands, or buts, young lady, go to your room!" I snapped, and Julia turned and ran to the house.
"Easy now, Best, lets get you groomed."
I led the stallion into the stable and cross-tied him in the aisle. I talked to him while I worked:
"Best, if I get Breeze, you and her will make the prettiest little baby ever, won't you?" he seemed to agree "Julia has had an attitude ever since I let her ride Freedom over some small jumps, and I don't know what to do! I try to discipline her, but she just gets meaner every day." Tavin walked in a said "Why was Julia crying?"
"Oh, she just about made me go to court, thats all!" I huffed.
"Oh." Tavin said quietly "Well, what did she do?"
"She came running around screaming and made Best here rear." I returned, patting Best.
"So this is our new horse, huh? Thought you said you were getting a mare, Spring Breeze, wasn't it?" he asked
"No, silly, this is just the stallion I leased so I can breed her, if I get her."
"I thought that was Freedoms job."
"Well, I just wanted a National Show Horse" I explained.
"Oh, well, I gotta go to a meeting, and when I get back, I'll have a little talk with Julia."
I knew she was in trouble now, he only called her that if she was, he usually called her "Teddy Bear". I finished grooming Best and turned him out, and I guess you know what he did, huh? You guessed it, rolled in the mud!
