I walked over to Courage's stall. I opened up the door and Courage greeted my happily. He nuzzled me and I gave him a kiss on the nose. I began to groom him. When I was finished
I tacked him up and took him out to the ring with my lounge line. I lunged him for awhile. letting him walk, trot, and canter in both directions like he would have to do at the show. After about 15 or 20 min. I stopped him and mounted
him. I rode around the ring at a walk doing circles to keep him focused on his work. I then asked for the trot. Today, he picked up a nice steady trot on the first try."Good boy!
You're so smart!" i told him. We did circles at the trot for awhile and then I let him walk. Today I was going to try to canter him. I sat back in the saddle and asked him to canter. He exploded into the canter. "Easy boy! Steady!"
I told him. He didn't listen at first and kept up him hand gallop until i began to circle him. Then he dropped into a nice canter. The canter could only be described as bouncy
and active. I then asked him to walk. We reversed and walked the other way for a little bit before cantering some more. This time he picked up a slower, steadier canter.
After a few laps around the ring, I let him walk and I cooled him out. i took him on a shrot trailride. He surprised me because he didn't spook at all. When we got back to the barn I untacked him and gave him a treat. I then took him outside for 5 min. of grass. I then put him in his stall. Next I went to Sparkle. I groomed her and tacked her up. I warmed her up in both directions and did a couple of practice fences before we did a 2ft. course. I then got off and raised the jumps up to 3 ft and a couple of 3'3'' jumps. She sailed around the course with ease.
She had near perfect spots on every fence and got all the right strides. I cooled her out by taking her on a short trail ride. I untacked her and let her have 5 in. of grass.
I put her away and gave her a treat. i then went into Dutchess's stall. Flame was getting bolder and he came over to me right away. I rubbed his forehead and then began to brush Dutchess. I took the soft brush over Flame. He was scared at first but soon calmed down. When I finished, i gave Dutchess a treat and then said goodbye to all of my horses and went home.
