I walked into the barn, Holly on one side and Shep on the other. Holly was leading Cream Puff or as we like to call her Puffy. I told Shep to lay down next to Sparkle's stall. He responded and obeyed."Holly, Mommy is going to ride and train her horses. You can help me groom them but when I'm riding I want you to take Shep and Puffy over to the bleachers and I want you all to sit there. ok?" I said.
"Ok Mommy, I'll be good." Holly replied. 'Are you going to rise courage first?' she asked. 'Umm, sure." I answered.
I got my brushes out and showed Holly how to use them. i told her what to watch out for and what she couldn't do.
She happily groomed courage, or atleast what she could reach. I then taked up Courage and to him out to the ring.
I watched Holly take the dogs over to the bleacher and sit down. i lunged Courage for a few mins before mounting him.
I walked,troted and cantered him with out any problems each way around the ring. I then saw a jumping pole laying on the ground. i walked Courage up to it and let him smell it. Then I made him walk over it. The 1st time he was a little
nervous but after that he was calm. I dismounted and called Holly over to the gate. I asked her if she wanted to be lead around on Courage. She excitedly said yes. I put my helmet on her and helped her into the saddle. I led her around and she loved it. I helped her off and we went in to untack courage. I told to dogs to layed down and they did. I untacked courage and showed Holly how to give him a treat.
I put him in his stall and moved on to sparkle. I found a helmet for Holly and made her put it on as I tacked up sparkle. I put her in the saddle before I mounted. We the doubled on a trail ride. The dogs ran a head of us. "Mommy, can i ride Courage again?' Holly asked on the way back to the barn. 'No, maybe tomorrow." I replyed. "ok."
When we got back to the barn I untacked Sparkle and gave her a treat. I put her in her stall and went to Dutchess's stall. Holly was sitting on a tack box next to Courage's door to his stall. Courage had his head over the door and was nuzzling holly. Puffy was curled up next to Holly 1/2 asleep. Shep was watching me. I carfully groomed Dutchess and brushed Flame off. I went and got his halter and gently put it on him. He shook his head but soon got used to it.
I lead him around the stall some. He seemed to get used to it and accept it. Occasionally he would plan his feet and refuse to move. Then, Dutchess would gently nip him on the rear to make him move. I then took off his halter, gave Dutchess a treat and let Flame have some too. I put away my stuff and put Puffy's leash on her. Holly must have been tired because she was asleep on the same tackbox. with Courage near by. I picked her up and lead Puffy to the car. Shep was already there waiting to get in. I put everyone in and we all went home.
