Since you are running two different operating systems on the same computer, you must select which one you want to work with when you turn on your computer. When you install Linux on a Windows system, you will need a "bootloader". A bootloader is a small program that starts when you turn on your computer. It lets you select which operating system you want to run. Mandrake comes with "Grub", but many people prefer "Lilo" as their bootloader. Grub gives the user 15 seconds (I think) to select which operating system to boot into (Windows or Linux). If no selection is made, it would automatically boot into Windows, but it can be configured to boot into Linux upon timeout instead.

You are in for a rough ride if you are setting up a dual-boot system. I tried it and decided to build a seperate computer for Linux instead. But if you must install them both on the same computer, I'd go with Mandrake.
