I teachcomputers to students k-5th grades. I asked my 3rd grade kids to type a joke. There were to modify the fonts, size, style and then have the computer read their joke. I rolled on the floor laughing when I read one kids screen.
There on the screen was your dead monkey joke.
"Why did the monkey fall out of the tree? Because it was dead!" Maybe the Germans didn't get it but my third graders love it!!
