Subject: I am pretty sure poo and the occasional fire is a good thing, environmentally speaking. It's just inconvenient for tourists.
In reply to: Me 's message, "Iv constantly heard of how much damage we did to planet earth. We alter it more than other creatures, But how is it damaging? What animal has put out a lightning caused fire?. What animal cleans up its own mess. Even yellowstone has garbage cans and bathrooms. Do you know of any other creature that has that. Humans alter the earth but they help it more than hurt it and they are the only creatures that can change there surroundings. It's just ourselves, It doesnt destroy the earth. Its just environmentalist in text books that try to make humans feel guilty for being humans." on 17:06:41 08/14/03 Thu

[> [> I see your point Me but I think that when we started driving around in cars, we really tipped the balance. A couple of forest fires don't compare to that kind of environmental impact. And squirrels just dig nuts out of the ground not coal and oil. I blame the fundamentalist mindset, which looks forward to a reward in some future life so who cares about this planet? -- magic1, 04:27:04 08/15/03 Fri

[> [> [> Hey Magic, I understand your point but, I do my own home work though and usually and I steer clear from believing what certain political party members (with their own political best interests at heart) tells me. Nor do I listen to certain political party members who try to scare me into voting the way they want me to. Here's a link that explains my point a little better. There are some interesting articles there. -- Me, 14:57:08 08/15/03 Fri

[> [> [> [> Your link is interesting for several reasons - first, it debunks "scientists" - but who the hell is William Robert Johnston? Why should I believe him? Secondly, yes, there are alternative explanations to 'global warming' - but if someone tells you they left the gas on, do you light a match to check? One wears a seatbelt while riding in a car - not because you EXPECT a collision, but in case one happens. We have dumped a tremendous amount of junk in the air - Mr. Johnson only addresses carbon dioxide...*click* -- gumtree (again), 07:18:23 08/19/03 Tue

There's carbon MONoxide (the major pollutant in car exhausts) which is NOT 'recyclable in nature' - that is, trees dont breathe it like they do carbon DIoxide. How about sulfur dioxide? How about unburned fuel?

Its not quite that simple. I would prefer to reduce the level of pollution where we can NOW, than be wishing in the future that I had done something when I could. The 'economic devastation' that Mr. Johnson claims is absurd - think of all the industry DEVELOPED to make the anti-pollution gear (the auto companies dont make catalytic converters, several outside vendors do that).
