Subject: Canada Trip

Top Eleven observations from Canada:

1. Needless to say, once we thought we were on our way, George asked Joe to get him a sleeping bag that took about 40 minutes. If anyone is ever going camping in northern California, give George or me a call as Joe’s brother-in-law ran down all of the places to go during our wait.

2. As a sign of things to come, the Osprey inexplicably left his tackle box in Joe’s driveway. Luckily, I noticed it and had George turn around after only a few minutes to retrieve it. Thank goodness it was still there.

3. Canada got a lot of rain the week before we were there and the lake seemed to be up about a foot or so. Docks were in ruins everywhere. Took a few days for it to come back to normal. Luckily, we had the advantage of the Osprey (aka, the BRO – see definition at end) falling in the lake 3 times in the first day and a half displacing a lot of water! Must have saturated his wings with too much water and hampered his fishkilling for the week.

4. Fishing at Chick Island was much more productive this year. Unfortunately for us, chicks had their retreat somewhere else this year.

5. In a semi-related story, came across a dead beaver in the cove where our cabin was. Oddly enough, it smelled like fish!

6. Fashion statement of the week: George’s tye-dyed underwear.

7. Fashion lure of the week: George’s pink, bubble gum colored plastic minnows.

8. Seven cases of beer into Canada proved to be not enough as we had to purchase another case for last day of fishing. Joe kind of stepped it up this year by bringing some Foster’s. Unfortunately for George and I, Joe brought only one oil-can for himself.

9. Made the trip into Montreal once again and had a good time. For a while there, I thought we were on safari in the jungles of Africa as some of the entertainment never heard of personal grooming.

10. We were told only to use the indoor facilities for going no. 2 since septic tank isn’t all that big. Made it until last night when the Osprey clogged her up.

11. I left the lake with honorary titles of Red Eye and Whiskers, in a tie with the Osprey for Perchie!

I am sure I left some out, maybe George and Joe can offer up a few more - all in all a good time once again. We also spent a good deal of time scouting out some new places including some on a new lake.

Until next year!

Jeff
