I am not an expert on LDS or RLDS, nor am I a member of either Church. I heard from an LDS friend that the last direct descendant(s)of Joseph Smith were actually converted to the LDS Faith. I'm not sure how the RLDS Priesthood works but the last prophet who was a descendant of Joseph Smith could very well have Ordained his heredetery Authority onto another non-related member. This would mean that the heredetery Authority of the Smith line would now be in the family line of your current Prophet, which probably means his son or daughter(From my observation, the RLDS church is extremely liberal where women are concerned)will be the next church prophet. In a similar way, early LDS Prophet John Taylor conferred the keys and preisthoods upon a few men who remained loyal to the original or fundamental LDS faith which exists to this day. Again this is just my speculation about your prophet, but its something to think about at least anyway.
