Hi Saint Stephen,
They had this report on German TV, they took 3 workers who almost had the identical job. One was from US another one was from Germany and the third one was from Japan. The American worker got paid best, he paid less taxes and could buy more for his money. My friend in Florida bought a house with swimming pool for 100.000$ a house that size in Germany would cost you about 400.000$. 15 years ago a nurse in US made twice as much as a nurse who worked in Germany. The sales tax in Germany is 16% except for books and art that are 7%. The German government gets more than 70% from the gasoline price. The highest income tax rate in Germany is more than 50%. The cheapest internet flat rate in Germany is 33$ a month.
