Subject: 686CORE/686BASE TV-Out functionality in X

Has anybody been successful in activating the TV output (composite video) from the 686CORE/686BASE in X?

We have found configuration details for the nsc driver here:

http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man4/nsc.4.html

Modifying the original /root/XF86Config file as suggested by compulab linux installation notes we have removed the hash from Option "TV" "PAL-768x576". I read that as soon as the "TV" option is enabled all CRT settings are ignored and thus irrelevant, but we've tried every combination anyway. Never any video output from the composite video connectors.

Any assistance appreciated - perhaps share the important parts of your XF86Config?

As a side note how could we redirect the console output during boot to VGA (we miss everything between loading.... and login prompt). Also is it possible to achieve console on the TV output or only X graphics modes?

Thanks in advance,

Arthur
