Subject: Aisling's quarterstaff slipped from her numb fingers, exhaustion threatening to overcome her. She surveyed the scenes of death with a strange sort of detatchment. She'd never fought so much in her life. True, she admitted, she hadn't done much--but it was still the most fighting she'd ever done. And the first time she'd ever killed anybody. ((Rest Inside))

The cry from Quuephe drew her eyes, and the sight brought her home with a jolt. Out of habit she bent down and scooped up her quarterstaff and stumbled over to the grieving brother. Shocked, she stared at the pale, lifeless form of Penherst for several moments before also dropping to her knees. "Penherst . . ." she whispered, tears making streaks down her cheeks as she mourned for her friend.
