Author: Mai'tsa (and her nitpicky, Tolkien-obsessed, somewhat annoyed Creator, or Player, or what you will)
Subject: OOC: Okay, I'm tired of cutting these rants down so they'll fit, and I'm /not/ editing out at least 584 letters on this one. Oricon's Creator (and anyone else caught up in this debate), please, just click on this text and read the inside... BIC(and /yes/, everything signed by Mai'tsa's Creator or put OOC was OOC; Mai’tsa herself is in a good mood at the moment and is entirely unaware of this debate because she doesn’t know about LotR or anything like that because such is merely something of a world/time that is /completely/ separate from the Lost Colony of Carnerik): Grinning, Mai’tsa says with a wink, "Hello, Terra; don’t be shy. We don’t bite. Well, the others might, but I don’t. Much.”
In reply to: Auguria 's message, "Muscles soothed by the water, Auguria decides to come back out of the water. Grabbing the towel she brought, she dabs it over her body to get most of the water off her skin, then lays it out to sit on. She starts combing through her hair with a finely carved wooden comb to get her wind-tangled hair smooth again. She looks a lot nicer than when she arrived, dirty and tired from the road. Now that she's cleaned up she looks less like a hag and more like the fairly nice-looking young lady that she is. Her mind seems to go off somewhere as she combs her hair, her eyes staring off into space." on 10:33:11 09/18/03 Thu

Oricon, my dear, if I call anyone “dearie” or “darling”, it’s not genuinely meant. I call people that all the time, and there’s no emotion whatsoever behind it; it’s merely a casual term by which I sometimes address anyone I'm talking to.

And Auguria, aye, perhaps, but it also gives the impression that her skin has been saturated in flourescent paint, or some such.

And aye, Oricon, you may own "all four" books, but if you've not read "Silmarillion", you haven't read them all. Adwen's absolutely correct on the point of that book being by far the most informative when you come to the point of info about the races and the history behind Middle Earth, which is not covered in any great detail in the "all four" books you own. And the movies, much as we love them, go even less into the histories.

And let me rephrase what I've been saying slightly. Elves may /seem/ to have a glow (mostly only in starlight or moonlight, or, for the sake of the movie, under the leaves of Lothlorien); it doesn't mean they actually /do/ glow, though. Does Legolas' skin glow in the Mines of Moria? "Hey, Elf, lead the way for us so we can see! Gandalf, you can put away that crystal in your staff; we've got all we need with Legsie here." Puh-leeze!!!

Also, your "glow", as you put it, cannot /possibly/ lighten or darken the atmosphere, much less cause a feeling of 'happiness' or whatever to pervade the room. How does that make sense? Maybe it would work with Oricon talking to little children, or if Oricon was royalty or some such, recognized for it, and all our chars were mere peasants, but that's /not the way it works with RP forums like this/! I'm not saying that you can't say that Oricon doesn't /seem/ to glow, but she can't actually /glow/ like your use of the term has been suggesting. Do I make my point?

  • (OOC: Okay, yep, I have a comment if you click, but it isn't very nice and so it's only for those who care. Oh, and sorry about typos. I can't see what I'm typing.) BIC: Terra nods to everyone in turn, "Hello Oricon, Auguria, and madams." She raises an eyebrow at Mai'tsa and Adwen. Looking directly at Auguria with curiosity filling her eyes, she cocks her head to one side. "Aura? I have an aura that tells you about me?" -- Terra Yumakami, 15:00:12 10/20/03 Mon
