Subject: Bulldogs JV and Varsity play to tie with Strongsville Mustangs

Canton McKinley's junior varsity and varsity teams played to a tie with Strongsville this Friday night at Fawcett Stadium. The JV team played to a 0-0 tie. McKinley's only scoring opportunity came when sophomore fullback James Thouvenin seemed to break for a possible touchdown run but was tripped from behind by a Mustang defender, only holding him to a 9 yard gain instead of a possible touchdown run. The defense played well with Tyrone Gillespie emerging with an interception to keep the Mustangs from scoring.
In the varsity game, the Bulldogs played to a 7-7 tie in which sophomore RB Ryan Brinson scored the only touchdown, a 70 yard run. Offensive lineman Joe Moscariello was injured in the scrimmage. His condition will not be revealed till later on in the week. Here's how the Bulldogs fared overall in five categories: Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Coaching and Teamwork:
1. Offense. The Bulldogs ran the ball extremely well, but penalties wiped out some terrific runs. The Bulldogs need to work on cutting down on penalties if they are to contend for some wins. Score: 8/10.
2. Defense. The Bulldogs were sharp on defense, swarming the ball real well, but the pass defense needed some improvement. I expected to see more of Studeny and Zollicoffer. Score: 9/10.
3. Special Teams. The Bulldogs before game conditions were excellent. Matt Campbell fired through booming punts and hit all his field goals. Score: 10/10.
4. Coaching: Miller called the plays, the players knew what to do and why. No problem here, at least for now. Score: 10/10.
5. Teamwork: The Bulldogs teammates were very united with each other, there was no type of frustration shown and the players only gave out encouragement to each other and good will. Score: 10/10. Total score: 47/50. ALMOST A STATE CHAMPION!
The Bulldogs will begin the road to the state title next Saturday vs. GlenOak at 7:30 p.m. at Fawcett Stadium. GO BULLDOGS, THE ROAD TO CANTON HAS BEGUN!!!!!!!!
