Here were the results of my dream high school football tournament: In my dream match of Padua Franciscan versus Canton McKinley, the Bulldogs proved to be too strong for the Bruins. A 28 point first and third quarter proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs cruised to a 35-7 lead at the half and won 63-7, and that's all Mary had to write there. 1997-1998 Canton McKinley advances to final.
Match two had 1990 Warren Harding against 1999 Cleveland St. Ignatius. The Wildcats were dominating in a 47-20 win over the Raiders. Offensive miscues and defensive breakdowns including two Ignatius special teams touchdowns led to the Raiders downfall. St. Ignatius advances to final.
CHAMPIONSHIP: If you watch the 1998 McKinley state championship video, you have a good idea as of who won my dream tournament.....if you remember Doss's earth-shattering hit on Pete Koch at the 1. CHAMPION: CANTON MCKINLEY BULLDOGS 31-24.
Now if Massillon thinks they have 22 titles, why do I not see them banners and why does Canton McKinley STILL after 30 years of playoff action still have BRAGGING rights? That's because when McKinley demands respect......they get that respect. 32 state titles for Canton McKinley and 0 state titles for Massillon. NO FEAR.....GO BULLDOGS!!!! Over and out.
