They shoot round balls and minie balls very well. I shot round balls patched with crisco and the barrel after 10-15 years was still pristine inside. Minies are really fun because you don't have the Black powder build up as with a patched ball. You can shoot minies for quite a long time without swiping the barrel! Tightly patched round balls are extremely accurate in the Antonio Zoli rifle. You have to obturate the ball or bullet for good accuracy. Obturate just means flatten or open the skirt of the minie ball. I used 45-50 grains of FF. You don't want to overload these ML's because the bolster areas don't seem very substantial.
