to Live is to Suffer, sin
was passed down from Eve
so we get it from our mothers
a kiss can make you heartsick
So we get it from our lovers
before this congregation
my dear sisters and brothers
is a man with a sermon
that may seem bland at the surface
this same sermon is one
that once disbanded the service
they called me manic in churches
they called my catechisms worthless
I've been really looking for faith
not on askjeeves or google searches
Bush leaving, we think up new war themes
pain in the South'll make you use morphine
so before you sleep say a prayer for New Orleans
when reality hit I was in for heavy hug
Realized god's love can lift me higher than any drug
glory be to Christ let his halo glow
to Show
that to live is to Suffer
and to suffer can mean to GROW.
