*The sun slips behind some pewter clouds, casting the land in shadow. A light, chilly rain sprinkles down on them and it continues to shower as the sun slides out from behind the clouds again, making the raindrops glitter like diamonds. Then a beautiful golden chestnut-and-white patched mare with round gleaming sides, a delicately dished face and strongly muscled chest, neck, legs and quarters canters through the long, waving grass. A restless wind lifts her long, silky mane and makes her smooth, shiny tail ripple like a cream-colored river in the wind. She whinnies and canters still more swiftly. She slides to a stop and rears slightly with a loving nicker to Captain.* Captain! My Captain! *She lands lightly shivers as rain dapples her coat.* Oh, you won't believe what happened! *She shudders hard and then raises her head as a look of pure terror crosses her face. For a second, the dark head of a skeletal goat with long black hair appears among the shifting clouds. Then it vanishes and she shudders once more before dropping to her knees, her nose on the grass as the world spins around her. Her eyes are dark with fear beneath her long forelock and she shivers still more violently before raising herself with an obvious great amount of energy and standing squarely in the still waving grass. She shakes her head hard and shivers her coat over her muscles.* Captain, where are my babies?! Are they all right? Did the--the--*She gulps.* Did the g--g--did the you-know-what get them?! *She rears again, her voice shrill with panic.* It's been so long since I was here, I was--I was there so long! *Once more she falls to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.* No, no, no, it can't have been a year. Not yet. No, no...*She chokes and sobs.* Not a year, that's too long, it didn't have me for that long. No, darling, NO! Tell me it isn't true! *She gasps and shakes hard with her sobs.*
