*Without speaking he wanders away from the small happy group as a cool breeze makes his mane and tail stream out behind him. The huge red-chestnut unicorn wanders out onto a high outcrop of rock where he stares out dreamily over the land, not realizing for several minutes what he was seeing, and then he focuses and stares. A tall, slender, and very beautiful girl walks carefully out of the woods. Her eyes are turquoise and her long hair is shiny red-gold, exactly the same color as his mane. She wears a soft leather tunic with a black belt, dark hunter green tights, a billowy white blouse and leather boots. He blinks and stares at her, before hearing her voice, soft and musical, in his mind:* Star? Star, it's me, Mari! STAR! MARI! *he shouts back with all the force of his brain, and leaps gracefully from the outcrop to run to his thirteen-year-old Bonded lady. She greets him with a long, tight hug. They stand united for many long minutes, until she finally whispers into the silkiness of his mane,* "Star, oh Star! I thought I'd never find you! But then I entered Kantainea and Saria greeted me, and she told me you were here! Oh Star, I missed you so!" *He breathes softly and warmly on her cheek and knuckles his muscle-bound forelegs to the ground. She mounts gracefully as he stands. He walks slowly back up the slope and speaks while he does.* "Milady, I missed you tons and tons and tons! How is the Musespeaker? And Defengo--how is he?" "Both just chipper, Star, looking great." "Milady--where have you been?" "Well, Star, I don't remember anything except falling. That's all. Nothing else of my journey to those woods behind us. But I do remember my life here, in Jade Stone County! But when I asked the way to our home, everyone I asked looked like I was crazy or looked terrified, and hurried away! Poor Kathy and King! They must be worried sick about me, I wish I could find them. And I hope that they watch over Janie, or she'll get hurt. Sometime I need to see Krishna and Tatania--oh Star! A girl like me!" *He nods his head and trots over to the group.* Friends, *he says proudly,* this is Mari, my Bonded lady, High Princess of Jade Stone County, Kantainea, heir to the princess's throne of Kantainea! *Mari smiles shyly and thinks,* Wow! What a lot of unicorns! Hi! *she greets the girl sitting on a chestnut stallion almost as big as Star.* I'm...uh...new here, I guess you could say! What's your name?
