He looks at her, and says, "I understand Nail." In a voice full of a nameless emotion. Was it anger? Love? Sadness? "But..." he struggles with words for a moment, then continues. "I can't leave you." he finishes in a voice that's barely above a whisper. There was a silence in which he kept his eyes on the bed, then his voice arose in song.
"You don't realize how much I need you.
Love you all the time and never leave you.
Please come on back to me.
I'm lonely as can be.
I need you." John looked up from the bed, and made eye contact, and for a brief moment there was a tear there. Or it might have been imagined. It couldn't be told, because his glance was forced downward once more.
