It can be difficult enough to get to sleep at Buckingham Palace, what with the noise from marching bands rehearsing the latest royal ceremony, not to speak of the myriad of servants trying to do their cleaning jobs around the palace while the Royal Family try to snatch some rest. Somebody is always managing to knock over a Ming vase, or drop some silverware, just when Her Majesty is about to drop off. A maid once trod on the tail of a corgi one night and the startled yelping of the dog made sleep an impossibility for the much tried monarch and her long suffering consort.
But all these disturbances were as nothing compared with the shenanigans that occurred the night that President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle stayed overnight in the palace. The snoring of the American First Lady was likened, by those unfortunate enough to hear it that night, to a combination to the drone of a Lancaster bomber allied with the chuffing of an old fashioned steam train. When this cacophony was succeeded by ear-piercing screaming and shouting coming from the suite occupied by the presidential couple, it was more than the elderly royal couple could endure. Her Majesty, accompanied by Prince Philip, stormed down to the guest apartment and hammered on the door.
What was causing the disturbance? What awful sight met the eyes of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness when the door was opened?

Her nocturnal eruptions especially caused embarrassment during the state visit, which the presidential couple paid to Queen Elizabeth II in London last year. Nobody at Buckingham Palace could get any sleep. The Queen and Prince Philip had to hammer on the bedroom door, in order to command some peace. The snoring of the First Lady was not the only problem that had to be dealt with, that night in the palace. When Michelle started screaming, things really were becoming very dangerous.
What caused Mrs Obama to yell like a baby on that fateful night? Was it something to do with the secret that Barack keeps hidden in his trousers? What is that big secret?

When Barack Obama stayed overnight in Buckingham Palace, during his state visit to the United Kingdom, he got a nasty surprise in the night. Michelle was not exactly thrilled either. The invasion of the presidential bedroom comes at the culmination of “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”, the outrageously irreverent and very funny book by Christopher Antony Meade.
This is not the only part of this novella that will have the reader rolling with laughter. The Illuminati conspiracy, the death of Osama bin Laden and the ancestry of Barack Obama also get the special Christopher Antony Meade treatment. That is to say that all of these stories are most mercilessly lampooned. Watch out for some rather novel reasons for the world recession and climate change also.
This is definitely a book that deserves to have a wide readership. It certainly contributes to the gaiety of nations.

One of the funniest scenes in this very funny book is the one in which Barack Obama gets attacked by a psychopathic zombie cat/shape-shifter. The fact that it occurs in Buckingham Palace just adds to the nonsensical surrealism.
This book will surely have a cult following before long. Wikipedia articles and Facebook pages will be dedicated to it by its hordes of fans. Twitter will positively smoke from the volume of tweets devoted to it. The year 2012 will not be remembered for the American election, or even for the much prophesied “End of The World”. Rather it will go down in history as the year a great cult classic was published. Move over George Orwell and Anne Rice. Make room for Christopher Antony Meade.
One of the most pervasive conspiracy theories in the world today is the notion that there is a shadowy organisation called The Illuminati, ruling all behind the scenes. Many books have been written about the influence of these malevolent secret elite, but none describe their history in a way that will have you falling over with laughter. None that is, until “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” by Christopher Antony Meade exploded on the literary scene.
This book can best be described as a comedy horror/scathing political satire. There are few figures on the international stage that don’t feel the lacerations of the author’s tongue. Characters, as diverse as, Barack Obama, Osama bin Laden and Larry the Downing Street cat are pitilessly lampooned. There is a particularly funny and original explanation of the origins of Barack Obama. The “real story” of how Osama bin Laden met his end is as funny as it is shocking.
There is an Illuminati connection here as well, also in the death of Adolf Hitler. (It is worth reading for the account of the death of the German dictator alone).
I don’t want to give too much away in this short review. I will just say that, if you are the type of person who enjoys laughing at those who claim to be our betters, this is the book you should read. You are guaranteed to fall off your seat from laughing.

I can't possibly imagine the depth of the author's imagination for the purposes of writing this clever little book. It's chock full of amazing details about, well, everything from George Washington to Queen Elizabeth II.
If you are a fan of 'The Walking Dead', you will certainly love the first treatise of the book when a zombie comes to live with the author and becomes fast friends with his cat. (The cat is from hell, of course, and nothing else is what it appears to be either).
Who knew that Barack Obama is part Cheshire cat?
Who knew that Osama Bin Laden loved high school cheerleader porn?
Who knew that Queen Elizabeth II sleeps with giant curlers in her hair?
Who knew indeed?
Well, buy this book and enjoy the hijinks that ensue during the making of Area 51 and why the three little pigs will one day destroy the world.
It's a fun read, full of interesting twists and turns that NO WAY you will see coming! It's got something for everyone - laughs, tragedy, fantasy, zombies, the recession, Hitler.

I would have given this book 5 stars, but it's just too short! There's more to tell Mr Meade.
