I think Xander will believe vamp Xander can do the job without a soul. In fact I'd be shocked if he went into it with the expectation of getting a soul. Xander *asking* to be turned will be the litteral equivalent of The fang Gang resurecting Angelus. He will asked to be turned because it's the only way he will believe he can help Buffy. As a vicious souless monster. Think about what kind of sacrifice this is and why he would even contemplate doing it!
If you want a very short look at Nyarlatothep, read the last 20 pages of Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath. Lovecraft really isn't your blood and gore horror type. DQoUK is really much closer to fantasy than horror. Nyarlatothep and his powers will be critical to understanding the BB, and how it will behave. Thanks for playing.
